EQUAL JUSTICE PARTY SUPPORTS BOB FIORETTI FOR MAYOR OF CHICAGO

CHICAGO-THE EQUAL JUSTICE PARTY AT ITS NEW YEAR CONVENTION HAS VOTED TO SUPPORT ALD BOB FIORETTI FOR MAYOR OF CHICAGO IN THE FEBRUARY ELECTION. Fioretti promises on his website to press for an elected school board while continuing his drumbeat of accusing the current mayor, Emanuel of taking care of wealthy, well-connected supporters at the expense of regular Chicagoans. The current mayor found money for all of his billion dollar projects but was unable to find 3 million dollars to keep 6 of the 12 Chicago Mental Health Centers open. The Cook County Sheriff Thomas Dart has stated that the Cook County Jail has become the largest mental health provider in the Cook county by having to lock up thousands of inmates that would have otherwise need to be cared for the Chicago Mental Health Centers.Equal Justice also supports Fioretti because he intends to "end wasteful spending on excessive standardized tests." Many of the tests that have drawn the ire of parents groups in recent years are required by the state or the federal government. Fioretti has said that he would reopen Mig's Field, a Chicago Downtown Airport which was closed by the former Major Richard Daley in a night time raid on the Air Field, destroying it.
While Bob Fioretti was an Alderman he was an independent voice for the people. The current mayor eliminated Fioretti's ward and created his most power opposition candidate, Fioretti in February, which would be a good thing for Chicago.
